Marine Jetty (Jabatan Laut) Facility.
The vehicular jetty structures comprising of 260m long main jetty bridge with 160m jetty head was constructed to facilitate various naval and support operation by the Jabatan Laut Malaysia.
Design and construction challenges include the foundation of the 450 dia spun piles on water with soft marine clay layers. Determination of loading include study on the wave and ship impact lateral load on the jetty structres. Sequential launching of bridge decks was made possible using barge. The Technical Proposal highlighted various constraints in geotechnical and coastal hydraulic considerations.
Once completed the jetty facility is able to provide logistic and maintenance service to medium size patrol ship facility in the region.
